Playa Escondida

Playa Escondida

Playa Escondida, or Hidden Beach, is one of the best beaches in Las Terrenas. We like to think that this beach has a little magic to it. It’s hidden away down a steep trail with some steps and then you’ll find yourself on top of one of the most beautiful beaches in the Dominican Republic. The waves are strong but not too strong for those who want to swim or snorkel around here.

Also there are some rocks which make great spots for sunbathing and relaxation!

Playa Escondida

Playa Escondida is an excellent place to relax and enjoy the Caribbean sun. The beach is well-known for its secluded location, which makes it a great getaway from busy cities and towns. It also has plenty of facilities for swimming and snorkeling, as well as some restaurants nearby if you want to grab something to eat after a day at the beach.

Q: What is the best time to visit Playa Escondida ?

A: The weather in Las Terrenas tends to be hot and humid during the summer months (Dec-Apr) so we recommend visiting between May and October. We also recommend avoiding weekends during those months as they are very popular with tourists, which can make getting around town a bit hectic.

Q: What should I bring with me?

A: Be sure to pack sunscreen, bug lotion and an umbrella for rain protection! Also don鈥檛 forget any electronics you may need such as chargers, cameras or books! For your convenience there is WiFi at both locations but sometimes it can be slow so we recommend downloading what you need before leaving Puerto Plata Airport.

Q: What should I wear?

A: Casual attire is acceptable most days but if you plan on going out for dinner or dancing then opt for something more formal like a dress or nice shorts & shirt combo. Whatever you wear just make sure it looks good with sand because that’s all there really is here 馃槈

Q: How long does it take from Puerto Plata Airport?

A : It usually takes about 30 minutes by taxi depending on traffic conditions but don’t worry – Playa Escondida has someone waiting outside with a sign when they see our guests pull in just in case they don’t arrive at exactly 5pm 馃檪

Pros & Cons of Playa Escondida

  • It’s quiet, secluded, and beautiful. The beach is a sandy white, the water is clean and clear, and there’s nothing but sand between you and the ocean. There’s no one around to disturb your peace here!
  • The swimming conditions are great. There are two main swimming areas鈥攐ne on either side of the beach鈥攁nd both have calm water that’s perfect for swimming laps or just floating around with a good book (or maybe even some floaties!).

  • Because Playa Escondida is so popular with tourists, it can get crowded during high season (December through April). If you’re looking for some peace and quiet away from all those people at home, this may not be the best choice for you; however, if you enjoy being surrounded by others who love nature as much as you do then this might be right up your alley!
